Snarky Candiru2

Tuesday, 2 June 2020

The one where Sue phones Elly and asks her to get back to work now that she's all rested up.

(Original Publication Date, 4 June 1991)

Panel 1: We find Overburdened Elly being overburdened as she has to juggle doing laundry, cooking supper and attending to a crying baby.

Panel 2: As she turns down the heat under the pot, April is still crying and Farley wants to be fed.

Panel 3: As she changes April, she's astonished when the phone rings.

Panel 4: She goes bleary-eyed with confusion when the voice on the phone says "Hi, El! We thought you might be tired of relaxing at home and were wondering when you were coming back to work."

Summary: This allows Lynn to check off two items on her Big List Of Themes: "Elly has no help and no time to herself" and "We moms forget what it's like to be a young mother five seconds after the child turns two."
