Snarky Candiru2

The one where Elly and Connie commiserate in a manner that leads to evil people who hate motherhood to ask the cruel and useless question "What silence have YOU ever suffered in, Crazy Glue?"

(Original Publication Date, 23 February 1991)

Panel 1: As she puts on her coat to go home and feel sorry for herself there, Elly reminds us that her due date is 26 March so she can huff and puff about how she hopes she can hold out until then.

Panel 2: Connie reassures her that she can count on her, Carol and Anne and points out that her mother is a phone call away. Elly knows this.

Panel 3: Connie gladly feeds Elly a straight line by saying that mothers have to stick together. Elly knows this.

Panel 4: Reason: WE MOMS are the only ones who really know how humiliating and painful a burden pregnancy is.

Summary: While it is true that men cannot after all give birth no matter how that might delight her, we have something she lacks called an imagination. She'll never accept it but I do feel a certain amount of discomfort on Elly's behalf because five weeks from now, she'll be pushing something big and wriggly and howling out of a body part with all of the nerve endings ever. ALL OF THEM!!!
