Snarky Candiru2

Friday, 31 January 2020

The one where Mike suppresses the children by threatening to nark on them to their parents.

(Original Publication Date, 1 February 1991)

Panel 1: We find ourselves watching the Nichols children be themselves: ungovernable savages. Richard points a toy ray blaster at Mike and yells "DIE, SUCKER!", Chris does a full Peanuts yell about how they're staying up and he can't stop them and Leah stands around looking lobotomized. Mike's reaction to this is to state "Fine by me!"

Panel 2: They don't notice that he's got a note pad when Chris yells that they're going to eat pop and chips and watch TV for as long as they want to. This is why his telling them to go for it isn't seen as a trap.

Panel 3: He then sets up an I Was A Teenage Lindy by telling them not to mind him. He's just writing down everything they do and when they do it just in case their parents want to know what goes on while they're out. This hollow threat shocks them so much, they freeze in place mid-pillage.

Panel 4: Since they don't realize that Anne isn't going to believe that her little angels do half of the shit they do, we find them in bed. Chris tells Richard to tell Mom not to get Mike anymore. Richard agrees that he's too old to babysit.

Summary: This is perhaps the last time we see these charming vandals so it's telling that they bow out as zombies from Hell. Lindy must have had a bad experience sitting once and this is the result.
