Snarky Candiru2

Tuesday, 25 June 2019

Now that it actually is Summer Vacation, we find that children lack the imagination required to actually enjoy it. Lynn blames it on television instead of on Elly's indifferent and inept parenting.

Panel 1: Now that school is out for the summer, we find a mutant girl asking Mike if he passed. When he says "Sure", she/he/it declares that ever neat and hopes that they might be in the same class next year.

Panel 2: When she says "Bye! Have a good summer", Mike says "See you 'round" and Gordon says "It's over, man. No more school."

Panel 3: Mike, Lawrence, Gordon and Brian whoop with delight because they're free for the next ten weeks.

Panel 4: A pall of confusion descends upon them when Mike asks "Now what?"

Summary: This is why last Saturday's strip is a sinister joke to me. As next Sunday's strip proves, if not provoked or ordered to do something, Mike's default setting when given time to do things is "stand around like a wooden Jesus in a country graveyard." We're about to see being provoked turn into being ordered to do something momentarily.
