Snarky Candiru2

Connie explains that most judges wear the same bored expression on their faces. This does little to calm Elly down.

Panel 1: As the day's session begins, the bailiff announces it thusly: "All rise! Oyez, oyez, oyez! Provincial Offences Court for the District Of Birchhaven is now in session!"

(Said district is a fictional location like Dogpatch, Possum Lake or Westview, OH.)

Panel 2: He then says "Justice Willis B Sullen presiding"; Sullen then tells the court to be seated. It should be noted that he's wearing an American-style robe instead of a Canadian/British gown. Also, the Crown Prosector and Pervrett's legal counsel wear said gown as well.

Panel 3: Since Sullen ain't gonna do a card trick, babble about Mel Tormé or engage in witty banter like Harry The Hat, Panicky Elly panics and asks Connie if she thinks Sullen looks fair and unbiased. Since she doesn't realize Elly means "Does it look as if he'll forgive me and destroy Pervrett?", Connie says it's hard to tell.

Panel 4: This is because in her experience, judges are like goldfish in that they have only one facial expression.

Summary: I should think that Lynn is going to agree with Connie in today's notes. My guess is that most of the judges she's encountered don't look especially sympathetic owing to their unfair and biased tendency to point out that she blundered into most of the messes she's in of her own free stupid will.
