Snarky Candiru2

Friday, 10 August 2018

Today's strip is all about the down-side of making big decisions in a real hurry. It also makes Phil and Georgia better than John because unlike him, they worry about things like wiring and flooring because they're not distracted by nonessential desiderata like "where will I put my trains?"

(Strip Number 5175, Original Publication Date, 11 August 1989)

Panel 1: That night, we find Phil and Georgia in bed. He stares a thousand-yard stare of despair when he reminds her that they went and bought a house.

Panel 2: He then asks her a question they should have asked that didn't display his ignorance of how finance works when he asks if they looked at it closely enough and if they'd checked it thoroughly out.

Panel 3: Her priorities are as follows: what colour the kitchen is, if there's a sink in the basement, the size of the fireplace and if he'd checked the wiring. This last seems most fitting because his old day job was electrician.

Panel 4: The two of them are filled with doubt when they thought-bubble "Whatever it's like.....it's all ours!"

Summary: This is perhaps why Phil wanted to slow things down. He didn't want to do what John ended up doing and take it on faith that he wasn't being sold a lemon of a Tiny Train House. He should have known better, though. Women in this strip WILL have their dream house and they WILL eradicate reminders of a man's bachelor days for his own good.
