Snarky Candiru2

Sunday, 10 June 2018

Since Elly is transfixed by the delusion that the only thing making her feel bad is the excess ten pounds she doesn't have, we find her trying to shake the bathroom scale so that it gives her an 'honest' weight.

(Strip Number 6745, Original Publication Date, 11 June 1989)

Panel 1: We find ourselves watching Elly (who's just come out of the shower) weigh herself on the bathroom scale. We sort of get a hint at what the premise is when it makes an audible TOOOINNNNNNG!!!!! noise.

Panel 2: Her less than impressed frustrated, weary scowl also gives an idea of what we're in for.

Panel 3: She gets all rage-faced and shakes the scale in the vain hope of getting it to obey her and show her she weighs what she wants to weigh.

Panel 4: This, of course, is useless as it makes a KA-Ching noise and gives her a weight she doesn't want to see.

Panel 5: Thinking that the scale is set improperly, she adjusts it to zero.

Panel 6: This also has no effect aside from having her stare at it in frustration as it makes a DOINK! noise.

Panel 7: She tries standing on her toes because she thinks that will make her weigh less.

Panel 8: She then stands on in normally and tries to displace her weight onto the counter as if that will somehow help. Judging from the "comic" noise it made, I don't see that happening.

Panel 9: When she tries shaking it again, John asks her what she's doing.

Panel 10: When she explains that she's trying to get an honest weight, he frowns because he probably assumes that her next step will be to heave a coffee mug at it.

Summary: We can no doubt expect a "This is the TRUTH!!!! This HAPPENED!!!" thing if there are notes. After all, Lynn never passes up a chance to fatshame herself.
