Snarky Candiru2

Monday, 4 June 2018

We begin the week with Dawn and Liz being bad and wanting to subject Elly to torment because they stupidly use one of her nice, clean sheets as a net for badminton without understanding that she just washed it.

(Strip Number 1456, Original Pubication Date, 5 June 1989)

Panel 1: We start things off with Liz playing what badminton looks like to Lynn while using one of the sheets Elly hung out to dry as a net. Not only does this make it obvious what's going to happen, the weird way she's holding the racket might explain why the birdies always end up in trees and on roofs.

Panel 2: Dawn gets in on the "Don't tell me I don't know what badminton looks like" fun as she also bats the shuttlecock onto the sheet because she's holding the racket all kinds of wrong.

Panel 3: Their silhouettes have what Claire Huxtable called BIG FUN batting the birdie onto the bedsheet because they can't see what they're doing.

Panel 4: Later on, we see Elly get all gobsmacked because there are scuff marks and raccoon paw prints on her nice clean sheet.

Summary: One can readily imagine any number of reasons why Liz isn't allowed to play the game where she can't do crap like this. As the "You don't want what I'm willing to offer so despite being hungry, you're not 'hungry'" strip tells us, Elly sets things up so her children can't be right.
