Snarky Candiru2

Sunday, 4 March 2018

A bored Michael irritates Elly by playing with the spring on the door-stopper so much, she permits him to watch television in order not to be distracted by an unfamiliar noise.

(Strip Number 6761, Original Publication Date, 26 February 1989)

Panel 1: We start things off watching Mike looking up at the hallway ceiling and sighing because he's bored out of his mind.

Panel 2: He's kicking the walls because he has no idea what to do with free time that isn't being told that he doesn't care enough to do chores.

Panel 3: He then notices that the doorstop has a spring to it.

Panel 4: He notices that the spring to the doorstop makes a metallic twanging noise when it's flicked.

Panel 5: Given that one resident in particular of Casa Foob is so abnormally sensitive to noise that she shoves her children outside at the least provocation to keep sane, one should think that his symphony of twanging springs is going to attract angry, bellowing attention.

Panel 6: One would be right because he is suddenly aware of Elly's enormous mutant stockinged feet.

Panel 7: He looks up at Elly and sproings the spring.

Panel 8: He smiles up at Elly as he sproings the spring again.

Panel 9: Mike's face lights up when Elly screams "All can watch television."

Summary: Since I'm a horrible fungus person snarker troll person who wants orphaned refugees in war zones to die of world diseases, I again demonstrate my refusal to admit that Lynn is a real person with real feelings by pointing out that Elly is paying for her not actually showing Mike what to do with his free time. It's not that they've made doing chores an unrewarding quest in moving the goalposts or that he's supposed to read their minds, it's that he's a bad kid.
