Snarky Candiru2

Monday, 8 January 2018

We launch into an arc that depicts Elly as having no time to herself because she's on so many committees, her days get all eaten up by having her and Connie talk about all the committees that they're on and how being on them eats up all of their days.

(Strip Number 5076, Original Publication Date, 9 January 1989)

Panel 1: Elly changes what she's panicking about from "evil computer people want to destroy the English language" to "my life is racing by before I can live it" by lamenting the fact that yet another year seems to have evaporated before she could get her bearings and wondering where the time went.

Panel 2: Connie ascribes it to their being on committees and reminds her passenger that she's on the hospital board while Elly's a hockey mom who's also the librarians' rented mule.

Panel 3: Elly is upset by this because they never have time to sit and chat about how stupid Anne is or how terrible their kids are for wanting attention any longer. There just aren't enough hours in the day.

Panel 4: Connie says that if there were, the two of them would just join more committees.

Summary: As howtheduck will no doubt note, this year's attempt to depict Lynn's real life is doing violence to continuity because after the arc ends, the two of them will look like stay-at-home mothers again.
