Snarky Candiru2

Tuesday, 12 December 2017

Good thing that Mike is in for a lousy time at Exile Farm; otherwise, Lynn's having him thought-bubble about making a point of being a wet blanket because he 'hates family, love and togetherness' and 'puts his friends ahead of his poooooooooooooooooooor mother' isn't going to be totally God-damned hilarious in hindsight.

(Strip Number 1509, Original Publication Date, 13 December 1988)

Panel 1: As our story continues, we find Mike in coach thought-bubbling "Just GREAT!!! I could be spendin'Christmas with my friends."

Panel 2: As he and the others trudge through the terminal laden with gifts, he's grousing about how he has to be dragged all the way to Winnipeg to go to the stoopid farm to spend Christmas with Dad's relatives.

Panel 3: As John points out the car rental sign, Mike promises himself that if they think they're going to make HIM have a good time, they're wrong.

Panel 4: As they drive to a lousy vacation, Mike thought-bubbles that even if it turns out to be fun, he's gonna have a bad time.

Summary: The irritating part of the arc is that when it wraps up, John and Elly are complaining about the lousy time they had while MIKE wishes he could stay longer. It seems that needing something to complain about runs in the family.
