Snarky Candiru2

Thursday, 10 August 2017

We end our look at home with a reminder that there's nothing Brian likes more than to throw that moron Mike under the bus.

(Strip Number 5001, Original Publication Date, 10 August 1988)

Panel 1: As John tries to figure out how he can hammer quietly, a smiling Elly opens Chekhov's soda can and asks Carol to read her the letter Brian sent home from Kamp Kawkawa.

Panel 2: Carol reports Brian as saying is real fun because they do ever neat stuff like the hiking and swimming he did that day.

Panel 3: She then talks about how, for reasons that clearly have nothing to do with Brian, Mike caught his head in the girls' shower hut the day before and really got it.

Panel 4: When Carol reads off "PS....DON'T tell his mom that I told you this", Rage-Faced Elly crushes the can in her hands.

Summary: The interesting thing about this is not that once again, Mike's friends gleefully throw him under the bus. The interesting thing is that, as the upcoming arc with Mrs Grunion reminds us, the children who goad Elly's teeming get into doing stupid shit get away scot free because Elly will not connect their ginning the kids up with what they do because she cannot process or admit to peer pressure. Also, Brian isn't really all that much smarter than the child he's betraying 'cause he didn't learn anything from the Molly incident that wasn't "If only we'd seen something worth getting yelled at."
