Royally Peeved Candiru

Thursday, 8 June 2017

Since Rod needs to be punished for buying THE EVIL CAR, Jean tells that stupid hypocrite John to stuff his whining about the unreasonable-because-she-made-it request Elly made to crack open his wallet and give her a decent kitchen up his nether end because Elly never said nothing when he wasted his dough on the Variably Coloured Sports Car Of Over-Compensation.

(Strip Number 1298, Original Publication Date, 8 June 1988)

Panel 1: Since Rod was clearly lying about why he bought the Cheat-On-Me Car Of Cheating On Lynn, we find John at the clinic desperately trying to get Jean to agree with him that Elly is wrong to want to remodel the kitchen.

Panel 2: He stands there moaning about how simple it would be to slap on a little paint and to maybe get a new stove but remodeling costs a fortune.

Panel 3: Jean is Lynn's mouthpiece when she reminds him that Elly allegedly said nothing at all about the ridiculously impractical car.

Panel 4: As was intended, Trash-bag Johnny looks like a selfish man-baby sulking to himself about how he'll be paying for his ego-gratifying TOY for years to come. Left unsaid is the fact that if he were to not waste his money on pointless luxuries and instead was practical, he would be happier.

Summary: Given the punchline, it probably occurred to Rod that not even death would be any sort of release from Lynn being pissed at him for spending her money on something that angered, frightened, angered, confused and angered her. It's fairly obvious that Lynn plans on being angry at him for buying his little buggy forever.
