Snarky Candiru2

Wednesday, 7 June 2017

Delusional wacko John thinks that putting a Band-Aid over the train wreck of a kitchen Elly has to struggle with is a useful solution because he's transfixed by a stereotype.

(Strip Number 1297, Original Publication Date, 7 June 1988)

Panel 1: As one could expect, John reacts to being told to remodel the kitchen with the same level of enthusiasm he would have for being circumcised by a grass trimmer.

Panel 2: Elly tries pointing out things he doesn't want to hear about how the kitchen is eighteen years old and thus has warped cupboards, appliances that belong in a museum and also the lino has cracked and broken.

Panel 3: Case in point: the ancient toaster is being held together by gaffer's tape, six years worth of breadcrumbs and wishful thinking.

Panel 4: Since John has a stupid mental defect that should be obvious, he thinks that replacing the toaster is a cure-all. Realizing that she married a moron again baffles Elly.

Summary: Strips like this indicate that battles over money were probably the real cause of the breakdown of their marriage. This is because I see a foreshadowing of her bullshit story about him 'stealing' her money after he left....not to mention the ungodly "Where will I put my TRAINS?" thing of making John/Rod look like he should have been named Dick Van Head.
