Snarky Candiru2

Sunday, 7 May 2017

Mike displays a basic unawareness of who Elly is when he allows for the possibility of her being in a good mood when delivering a passive-aggressive lecture about changing the toilet paper.

(Strip Number 6723, Original Publication Date, 15 May 1988)

Panel 1: We start things off with Elly's attention being drawn to the fact that once again, someone has left a roll of toilet paper on the biffy instead of putting it in its holder.

Panel 2: Since this strip is mostly for mothers who hate kids, Elly is filled with rage because her selfish children want to enslave her.

Panel 3: She responds by putting on big, fake smile and summoning the kids to show them very important.

Panel 4: Said important thing is the beginning of a sarcastic lecture about the amazing invention called a toilet roll holder.

Panel 5: Said device is inserted into the roll of toilet paper.

Panel 6: After this, a spring inside allows it to be attached to a bracket within easy reach of the toilet proper.

Panel 7: She invites them to a demonstration of this amazing device.

Panel 8: Having seen it, she asks them if they can possibly emulate her example themselves the next time the roll is empty.

Panel 9: After Elly heads off to bitch to Connie about horrible brats, Mike tells Lizzie that once again, Mom has him confused.

Panel 10: This is because he can never quite decide if she's in a good or bad mood when she does things like that.

Summary: Any realistic eleventh panel would have Lizzie ask him if he'd ever known Elly to be in a good mood in the first place. This is because the kids got the face with the angry scowl on it.
