Snarky Candiru2

Thursday, 4 May 2017

We sort of end the arc with a hint that Martha is waiting in the wings as well as a reminder that Mike isn't too fond of Lizzie.

(Strip Number 4960, Original Publication Date, 4 May 1988)

Panel 1: The following morning, we find Mike, Lizzie and Elly cleaning up the rec room. As they do so, Mike talks up how great the birthday party was.

Panel 2: Mike sets up the punchline (as well as seven years of Elly fretting needlessly about dangerous body language) by saying that he might invite girls to his next one.

Panel 3: As Elly (who isn't really as such aware of the thing he had for Deanna and won't be for another ten years) expresses surprise that Mike liked girls at all and as he says that he does, Lizzie thinks the idea of Mike with a girlfriend hilarious and shows us what the Sticky-Out Tongued Laugh Of Malice looks like when you're looking right at it instead of seeing it from the side.

Panel 4: He reacts to Lizzie being a stand-in for Alan by for saying that he excludes girls that are related to him from being liked by him.

Summary: We get to see why Mike isn't fond of Lizzie when she starts earning her hated nickname Saturday. We get to see why Elly is afraid of Martha when her past self gives a phone a raspberry.
