Snarky Candiru2

Thursday, 27 April 2017

Since Mike is as stupid as Elly, he doesn't foresee the inevitable connection between being large enough to assume more responsibilities and actually assuming them.

(Strip Number 1284, Original Publication Date, 27 April 1988)

Panel 1: Since Mike is always going to be the same snotty twerp who needs to make Lizzie feel like shit because he thinks he has to no matter how old he gets, it's no surprise that he taunts her about being almost twice her age as well as larger and smarter.

Panel 2: Elly comes along and accidentally makes his boast about being smarter into a lie when she needs him to help clean up the rec room and move the sofa.

Panel 3: Being told that being twelve means that she and John expect more of him now confuses the Delicate Genius To Be.

Panel 4: As he damned near ruptures himself moving the couch because he doesn't know to bend with his knees, Lizzie thought-bubbles that being younger has its advantages.

Summary: Lizzie can see more than Mike or her parents give her credit for. After all, she realized right off that she was expected to be April's primary caregiver and to give up on the unnecessary and anti-mother thing called a social life. Meanwhile, Mike has Elly's inability to see the bloody obvious when it's staring them both in their stupid faces.
