Mike finds a means of getting around what he sees as proof that nooooooobody really loves him when he pawns Super Teddy.

(Strip Number 1261, Original Publication Date, 10 March 1988)

Panel 1: As she plays with 'Magination Dolly, Lizzie says that she dunno if she can loan Mike the dollar he wants to borrow.

Panel 2: She half-heartedly accepts Super Teddy when he offers him as collateral.

Panel 3: A little while later, John rats Mike out to Elly because he went to the store despite being cut off for not doing his chores and asks where he got the money.

Panel 4: Since they're kind of both stupid, Elly telling him about the "loophole" of his pawning his stuff leaves them both gobsmacked.

Summary: Yet again, we find Patterparents failing at life because yet again, they didn't anticipate that their kids would try to find a way to do an end run around a decree. It's like watching Ferret Face assume that banning gambling meant it ceased to exist. Also, what does it matter if he somehow bummed money off of Lizzie anyway? John should have stopped him from going to the store in the first place.
