Snarky Candiru2

Tuesday, 24 January 2017

We find Elly at Connie's place using the storm as an excuse for taking a bit of a me day.

(Strip Number 4920, Original Publication Date, 25 January 1988)

Panel 1: As Elly trudges home in the whiteout, Connie asks "Is that you?" as a means of beckoning her to the Poirier house for a bit of a chat and also to avoid freezing to death because she's not dressed for conditions like this.

Panel 2: After she gets inside and starts to defrost, Elly complains about the storm because her car's in a ditch, the streets are closed and school buses have been canceled.

Panel 3: As Connie gets something out of a cupboard, Panicky Idiot Elly points out that they might not see their husbands or children for hours and asks what they should do.

Panel 4: Connie's asking if red or white wine goes best with freedom suggests that the answer to Elly's question is "Let's get stinko."

Summary: While Elly and Connie might be enjoying not having people underfoot now, they aren't going to like the end result of the power going out or the accompanying lecture about thinking about stuff like that. Does Elly know that if the power goes out, she should turn off all but one light and that she should leave a hot water tap to drip so the pipes don't freeze and burst? I don't know either but I know what way I'd guess.
