Snarky Candiru2

Wednesday, 18 January 2017

We lurch head-long into the blizzard story arc when John uses bad wordplay to stiff-arm Elly's objection to his glomming on to her ride.

(Strip Number 1408, Original Publication Date, 19 January 1988)

Panel 1: As the morning continues, we find John telling Elly that since the Yellow Penis-mobile of Overcompensation can't handle the terrible weather today, he's gonna take her ride. She does NOT like this and states her confused objection by asking "MY car?"

Panel 2: Reason: when she allowed him to buy the silly thing, he told her not to worry about stuff like that.

Panel 3: She's the picture of BAFFLED outrage when she reminds him that he told her the lie that he could easily drive the damned thing all winter because it was an all-weather vehicle.

Panel 4: His shrugging off her concerns and saying that it's a some-weather vehicle does not please her.

Summary: This is for the very good reason that he lied to her and she was so worried about the sort of fluffy thing Ted likes now that she let herself be deceived. Not, of course, that she sees it that way. She'll never admit that she can only be tricked by giving him permission to do so.
