Snarky Candiru2

Friday, 16 December 2016

Given who Lynn is, it isn't a surprise that Mike is supposed to be a killjoy because he hates horrible wordplay and the Sticky-Out Tongue Laugh Of Malice.

(Strip Number 1236, Original Publication Date, 18 December 1987)

Panel 1: As she colours something, Mike looks over her shoulder and asks Lizzie what she's drawing; she tells him "reindeer."

Panel 2: When he points out that it doesn't look like a reindeer, he asks what the blue stuff all over the picture is.

Panel 3: She tells him that it's RAIN, DEAR because Lynn is an infant who wishes that everyone would speak English like Jesus did.

Panel 4: Since he has the same sense of humour John has (i.e.: "Everyone is to be laughed at except him"), Angry Mike is angry when he says that an oldie is not necessarily a goodie.

Summary: Once again, we have bad (and forced) wordplay that doesn't travel well at all and once again, we'll have snippy notes defending the practice.
