We begin a micro-arc about how awful homework is when Lizzie refuses to feel guilty about not having as much assigned as wanna-be martyr Mike.

(Strip Number 1206, Original Publication Date, 28 September 1987)

Panel 1: We find ourselves watching Mike watching Lizzie colour something. When he asks what she's doing, she says she's doing her homework.

Panel 2: Since Mike's last name is Patterson, he makes a big, stupid production of things when he declares that since she's just colouring, she can't know what homework is. She disputes this.

Panel 3: He tries to get her to join him in lamenting the fact that EVIL people called teachers try to make him agree with their EVIL LIE that he has to do things that he doesn't want to by pointing at the books and paper he's using and getting her to see the difference. She admits as she does.

Panel 4: When she says that hers is done, Mike looks like a gaffed trout.

Summary: This, of course, is because he can't ever get it through his thick bloody skull that being told what to do by other people (be it his parents, his teachers, Divala, Mr Gluttson or Mira) isn't some big God-damned tragedy. We all have to do stuff we'd rather not so people like him who make a meal of it tend to grate on us.
