Snarky Candiru2

Friday, 11 March 2016

Trying to explain having the heartache of timeshifting to Elly leaves Mike confronting the absolutely futile.

(Strip Number 4784, Original Publication Date, 13 March 1987)

Panel 1: When Michael asks how long Lawrence's mom is staying, Elly tells him that she is leaving tomorrow before asking him why that's a problem.

Panel 2: Michael says that because she's here, he and Lizzie cannot use the downstairs TV and have to share the one in the living room.

Panel 3: When he tells her that he has to tape shows he wants to see on another channel because he is forced to watch whatever Lizzie wants to see, she is distinctly underwhelmed.

Panel 4: Mike is back in the living room telling Lizzie Mom does not understand modern problems. (In the original, he said 'the problems of the '80s.')

Summary: This sort of thing does loom large to a kid but to most people, it's not that big of a deal. Also, Elly doesn't like what Mike likes in the first place so he's out of luck there too.
