Snarky Candiru2

Thursday, 5 November 2015

While it looks as if Elly is all curled into a pathetic ball of angst because she realizes that all she's going to be known as is "that nut with the sandwich board", the truth is somewhat weirder.

(Strip Number 4707, Original Publication Date, 6 November 1986)

Panel 1: We find Elly lying on the couch with a thousand-yard stare as Elizabeth asks her if she's tired or wants a drink.

Panel 2: Lizzie then asks if Mommy wants a back rub or a blanket because she thinks Mommy had a hard day of housework and wants to help.

Panel 3: She then stuffs her bunny in Elly's arms and drapes a blanket over her.

Panel 4: As Elly wallows, a smiling Lizzie tells herself that she thinks she'll have kids when she grows up.

Summary: Originally, I thought that Elly was reeling from the realization that Radcliffe had somehow turned her into "that interfering ignoramus who needlessly barged into a situation that was already being handled." Tomorrow's strip proves that assumption wrong.
