Snarky Candiru2

Monday, 9 March 2015

We begin the "Michael Patterson, Latchkey Kid" arc with a reminder of why he likes being home alone. Said reason is that no one is nagging him about spoiling his appetite for Cheapie Weenie Casserole by eating something palatable.

(Strip Number 1025, Original Publication Date, 10 March 1986)

Panel 1: We find ourselves watching Anne ask Mike if he's sure he doesn't mind being home alone; he assures her that he'll be alright.

Panel 2: Anne does more parenting in one panel than Elly does in a whole year by telling him to lock the door and to remember that if he needs her, she'll be right over.

Panel 3: He again reassures her that he would rather be home alone.

Panel 4: We get to see why that is when he makes a beeline to the cupboard where Elly stashes all the candy and cookies.

Summary: We're probably in for a Little Lindy show about how what Mrs Ridgway didn't know didn't hurt her. That, or Aaron will be castigated for poor eating habits and not loving Lynn's cooking. What we're definitely in for is his whining about how Elly wants him to work to DEATH because she thinks that since he's there anyway, he might as well do a little light housework and not be the cookie-eating biological adjunct of a television set.
