Snarky Candiru2

Saturday, 14 February 2015

We end the week with a sort of tribute to "David, We're Pregnant" when Elly empathizes with Annie about a familiar inconvenience.

(Strip Number 1022, Original Publication Date, 15 February 1986)

Panel 1: As they drink their coffee, Anne tells Elly that she just felt the baby kick.

Panel 2: Both Elly and Christopher ask her if they can feel it as well.

Panel 3: An awkward pause ensues when we see Elly, Christopher and Richard touch Annie's belly and nothing happens.

Panel 4: When Annie tells the baby to do something, Elly smiles sympathetically because she's had to deal with this too.

Summary: That's because this strip is a sort of a love letter from one mother to other mothers who've been in this exact situation. I can empathize with Annie's frustration that Leah is being 'difficult' but it's not something I'll ever experience so it's not quite my place to say much.
