Snarky Candiru2

Monday, 19 January 2015

We start the week with Elly giving Marian a mildly inaccurate case history of Connie and Ted's romantic troubles. We end up with a Lynnsight that tells us that this is the story so far even though it isn't because Lynn hates to review the past.

(Strip Number 1010, Original Publication Date, 20 January 1985)

Panel 1: We find ourselves watching Marian and Elly drinking coffee; as they do so, Elly tells her that when Connie divorced Pete Landry, he moved back to South America and started to date Phil.

Panel 2: She then broke up with Phil to date Ted and he broke up with her when she proposed.

Panel 3: After Connie moved to Thunder Bay, Ted made some doomed romantic gesture to get her back, failed and ended marrying his secretary.

Panel 4: John shows up and tells Marian that instead of gossiping, Elly gives case histories.

Summary: A few weeks from now, we're going to be told that Elly's case histories are somewhat inaccurate when she gets Irene's name wrong, where she and Ted went on honeymoon wrong and so on and so forth. This, of course, is after we spend the next few weeks being reminded that Jim and Marian are disruptive meddlers with too much time on their hands.
