Snarky Candiru2

Saturday, 2 August 2014

We end the week with Connie admitting that she never bothered telling Lawrence about the move because she didn't want to be guilted into having to watch Ted lord it over her that he can do what he wants.

(Strip Number 910, Original Publication Date, 3 August 1985)

Panel 1: Connie tells Elly that she does know that moving to Thunder Bay will be very hard on both her and Lawrence.

Panel 2: That being said, the innate resiliency of children will allow Lawrence to survive the transition.

Panel 3: When Elly asks her how Lawrence is dealing with the news, Connie says that she has no idea.

Panel 4: That's because she never actually bothered telling him. Elly's reaction is one of shock because she can anticipate the same screaming match Connie wants to avoid until it's too late to do anything about it.

Summary: We see here a foreshadowing of the shameful and self-serving way in which the Patterswine treated April during the Housening; the same useless, craven and unnecessary fear of plans being derailed via tantrum informs this arc as well.
