Snarky Candiru2

Tuesday, 6 May 2014

We continue merrily on with the 'Mike is too worried about the worthless opinion of other worthless little children like himself to glorify Elly' arc with his being terrified that he'd be exposed to teasing. Foolish boy. Since it doesn't affect Elly, why is he worried?

(Strip Number 848, Original Publication Date, 7 May 1985)

Panel 1: An angered Michael tells Lawrence that he is not too chicken to buy flowers for his mother.

Panel 2: Lawrence responds to this denial by restating his original comment about how Mike is too worried about the opinion of other boys to do his duty to the woman who does so many nice things for him to go into the flower shop.

Panel 3: Mike's reaction is to make a point of walking into this flower shop RIGHT NOW!!

Panel 4: As he enters the shop, he thought-bubbles "Did anyone see me?"

Summary: The point of this mess is that Mike is just supposed to sit back and take crap from other boys in order to do his job and make Elly feel good about herself. Since Elly isn't affected, his feeling hurt or scared is a stupid thing he should not feel.
