Snarky Candiru2

Thursday, 20 March 2014

Given who Elly is, it really isn't much of a surprise that she makes this much of a meal of a weekend by herself.

(Strip Number 821, Original Publication Date, 21 March 1985)

Panel 1: Elly lays on the bed and tells herself how great it is that she's in a hotel room for two nights.

Panel 2: The idea of not having to cook meals no one appreciates, clean up after slobs and chase after kids who don't see her as being a human being in her own right has her so pumped, she's capering like a lunatic.

Panel 3: After all, it feels as if it's been thousands of years since she's been by herself.

Panel 4: She then looks in the mirror and greets the stranger therein.

Summary: This particular strip is the most depressing one that I can think of. After all, Elly never really does live for herself and ends up having to live through Michael. What we have here is what Tvtropes calls a hope spot in that it promises Elly a freedom she never gets to experience. Also, today's notes are a free-form rant about how Lynn loves to see a well-kept hotel room as it's a pleasant change from the CHAOS!!!! on tap at home.
