Snarky Candiru2

Saturday, 28 September 2013: Die, Elly, Die!!!!!

We end the arc with Elly telling Connie that she 'fixed' things by pandering to John's belief that women are simply incapable of reason.

(Strip Number 716, Original Publication Date, 29 September 1984)

Panel 1: While driving to work, Elly tells Connie that she has made a deal with John.

Panel 2: He will help with the housework on days she works and she takes care of it on the days she is home.

Panel 3: Connie wonders what feminist logic was used to get this agreement.

Panel 4: Connie is flabbergasted when Elly tells her "I cried."

Summary: I think that disgust is a more appropriate reaction than confusion. This is because most people went into this with the expectation that Dorko with the train fixation would finally get it through his thick skull that women are people too. Too bad then John learned absolutely nothing at all from this. He went in thinking that women are hormonally-driven children incapable of rational thought and he came out with the same belief. About the only thing that changed was that he thinks that he must at all costs simmer the hormone bomb he married down at all costs. Sucks to be April. She's years away from being born and she's already got a date with an angry thug father threatening to backhand her for making Elly mad.
