Snarky Candiru2

Monday, 15 July 2013

Today's strip is brought to you by mocking children for having a rather literal take on the world around them. This is because Lynn makes a joke of looking out the airplane window and expecting to see angels.

(Strip Number 656, Original Publication Date, 16 July 1984)

Panel 1: As Michael and Vicky the flight attendant look out the window, she points out tha the clouds are beautiful. He agrees with this.

Panel 2: Michael then says that he has been looking for angels but hasn't seen any.

Panel 3: He then wonders out loud if it is their day off.

Summary: This sort of ill-formed idea of what, if anything, populates Heaven should be so banal and ordinary as to escape notice. Instead, we are expected to wonder at the predictable. (Also, Lynn should probably have expected a terse call from Bil Keane about plagiarism.)
