Snarky Candiru2

Wednesday, 19 June 2013

We end the arc with Elly getting pissed off because 'ungrateful' Farley rolls around in the dirt to get rid of the awful soap smell he doesn't like.

(Strip Number 636, Original Publication Date, 20 June 1984)

Panel 1: We start things off with Elly brushing a freaked-out looking Farley as John comments on how the dog is  all clean and beautiful.

Panel 2: Just as Elly is about to boast about how much effort she put into washing him, Farley makes a break for it.

Panel 3: Since he's a dog and it's what they do, Farley rolls in the first dirt he can find.

Panel 4: Now that Farley's all filthy again, a furious Elly asks him if he'd like to be traded in on a cat.

Summary: The premise of all of this is that Farley is a person in a suit trying to be a jerk to POOR ELLY. POOR ELLY has to believe this or else she'd have to admit that she would have to spend time training Farley out of doing what comes naturally and that would take effort and thus be just awful. Better to scream at him and not understand why than to understand why and have to not whine.
