Snarky Candiru2

Monday, 3 June 2013

We begin the second week of the "Lizzie gets sick" arc with John doing something he should be doing while waiting to relieve Elly: imagining all the myriad things that could go wrong.

(Strip Number 623, Original Publication Date, 4 June 1984)

Panel 1: We find John in Lizzie's bedroom lost in thought. He tells himself that he knows that she's probably going to be fine.

Panel 2: We then zoom out to see him looking down at her empty bed and telling himself that seeing it being empty makes him feel awful. I can relate to this because I too would feel like a failure as a man in this situation.

Panel 3: Having noticed him looking and feeling awful, Elly asks him what is wrong and what he is doing.

Panel 4: He tells her that he's imagining the unimaginable.

Summary: This is nice enough, I guess. Thing is that I can't help but wonder why they couldn't have dropped Mike off at Annie's or Connie's and imagined the unimaginable in the hospital waiting room like normal people.
