Snarky Candiru2

Thursday, 18 April 2013

Today's rather bland and harmless slice of life has Elly mildly astonished by the end result of Lizzie wanting to be part of the proceedings. While in itself innocuous, it's bound to be sort of made less palatable by any Lynnsight that isn't "No thoughts today."

(Strip Number 596, Original Publication Date, 19 April 1984)

Panel 1: As Michael's guests sing "Happy Birthday", Elly puts the birthday cake on the table.

Panel 2: Since Lizzie is like, what, four and wants to be a part of things, it's not a real surprise when she helps Michael blow out his candles. Well, not to us, anyways. Mike looks quite surprised.

Panel 3: When Elly asks him if he'd made a wish, he says that he did.

Panel 4: He wished Elizabeth had swallowed her Jell-O before helping him blow out the candles; since Elly is kind of over-anxious, she regards the non-event of a birthday cake with Jell-O on top of it as a major crisis.

Summary: As I said, this is harmless and bland; it's the sort of look inside anyone's home that was the hallmark of the years wherein I liked what I saw.
