In today's strip, Mike tells Lizzie that it's okay that she be allowed at his boys-only birthday part because she's insignificant. Since Elly speaks baby talk to her, Lizzie finks dat Michael said a swear at her because she doesn't know what that word means.

(Strip Number 590, Original Publication Date, 11 April 1984)

Panel 1: We start things off with Michael at the kitchen table writing something on some festive-looking stationery. When Lizzie asks him what he's doing, he tells her that he is writing out his birthday invitations.

Panel 2: Elizabeth testily reminds him that she gets to go too; even if Michael said "no girls", Elly insisted that she, a girl, gets to go too.

Panel 3: Michael tells her that's okay with him because she is insignificant. Since she doesn't know what that word means, she's gobsmacked.

Panel 4: A confused and angered Elizabeth goes to John and tells him while she's not sure, she thinks that Michael might have used a swear word at her.

Summary: The Lynnsight is all about Lynn marveling that Aaron had an adult vocabulary; this, I should think, is not just mommyjacking. It's also Lynn not realizing that children tend to speak better English when exposed to better English instead of the ummmms and eeerrrrs and y'knows that she sputters out. Also, what the Hell, Mike? Afraid that if girls show up, you'll have to play with dollies?!
