Snarky Candiru2

Wednesday, 24 October 2012

Today's strip is the one in which lard-headed Steve goads idiot John into trying to scare the women at the Grubberware party. The odd thing is that when this first ran, I expected Elly to ask John "If Steve Nichols told you to jump off of a bridge, would you do it?"

(Strip Number 4381, Original Publication Date, 26 October 1983)

Panel 1: Now that John has put on a child's vampire costume, Steve tells him that he's not kidding when he says that he's a laugh riot. Suddenly, he pauses in mid-guffaw.

Panel 2: He then asks John if he's thinking along the same line he is; you see, Steve just remembered that there are thirteen unsuspecting women having a sales party in John's living room.

Panel 3: Since Steve "The Human Potato" Nichols has it in his beer-swilling, skirt-chasing, sports-watching brain that women are all panicky idiots needing the protection of what he sees as a brave man like himself, he bets that if John went 'bla-bla-bla', he could scare them out of a year's growth. John tells him that that's an awful idea.....

Panel 4: Which is why he'll do it!!!

Summary: Since you'd have to be a right dozy dollop to sink to the level of some ten year old trying to crash a slumber party, we can expect that Rod is going to get something of a scraping in the Lynnsight. As for Steve's manliness, I don't see a man when I look at him. I see the belching organic adjunct of a recliner.
