Snarky Candiru2

Friday, 7 September 2012

In today's strip, Lizzie victimizes John by making him read her a story again. No. Seriously. That's the joke. A small child likes repetition and that's just awful.

(Strip Number 462, Original Publication Date, 9 September 1983)

Panel 1: We start things off with an anxious-looking Lizzie holding a book under John's bulbous snout. You can practically hear the self-pity as JFTF whines "Ding-Dong Ducky? Not again, Lizzie! I've read you this story a hundred times!"

Panel 2: Since the pompous load of poo can't get it through his thick skull that parenting isn't about his needs, he goes on to whimper that if he reads it again, he'll go stark raving mad. (Insert smart remark about it being too damned late here.)

Panel 3: He then asks her if she wants her dear old screaming weirdo of a dad if she wants him to become a screaming weirdo.

Panel 4: He sullenly reads her her storybook.

Summary: John? Camera Three. She doesn't want you to become a screaming weirdo. She just likes hearing the same story over and over and if you knew a god-damned thing about children, you'd shrug it off as part of the job. Then again, you also think that a seven year old boy can wash a car unassisted so knowing anything about kids is expecting too much of you.
