Snarky Candiru2

Monday, 23 July 2012

We begin an interesting little arc this week as Danny is beside himself with glee when he wakes a confused and mildly ticked-off Elly up at pitchdark-o-thirty in the morning to watch piglets be born. As howtheduck suggests, he and his real-life avatar are pig farmers first, last and always so he's in (if you'll pardon a JSTF-worthy pun) in hog heaven.

(Strip Number 4348, Original Publication Date, 25 July 1983)

Panel 1: We start things off with someone knocking on the bedroom door and asking Elly if she's awake. Her angry glare says "Yes" as well as "She ain't too happy about it."

Panel 2: Said voice belongs to Danny. As he puts on a set of coveralls, he tells her she'd better hurry if she wants to see the piglets being born.

Panel 3: While he stands there with a mildly scary grin on his face, she looks at the clock, sees that it's three in the morning and talks about what an awful hour it is for this to happen.

Panel 4:  As Joyboy rushes off, he welcomes her to the world of obstetrics.

Summary: Oddly enough, this is the high point of the week. Tomorrow, we have John begging off in a manner that makes me long to hear a fictional character's death rattle and we end with Elly whining about how unfair it is that pigs have it so easy.

Lynn Johnston at the San Diego Comic-Con

Lynn has posted her comments on the News Bites, with the bizarre complaint that there was not enough representation from Native Canadians and Americans at the comic convention.

This commentary on Lynn's solo talk came in from the Washington Post was very positive:

That's all I have found so far on-line and nothing yet to match the experience of our own jette, who was at the Comic Legends Panel and was less than happy with Lynn's appearance -- dominating the panel conversation with complaints about rude fans.
