Snarky Candiru2

Sunday, 22 July 2012

In today's rather pleasant slice of life strip, Mike tries very hard to not look overly sensitive to the concerns of Mrs Baird lest he gain a reputation as being cute.

(Strip Number 7140, Original Publication Date, 24 July 1983)

Panel 1: We find ourselves watching Mike walk by Elly's garden.

Panel 2: He smiles as he stops and smells the flowers.

Panel 3: We then look on as he watches Mrs Baird walk down the street; the poor thing seems to be wilting in the sun and looks rather more downtrodden than usual.

Panel 4: A few minutes later, Mike is asking if he can please take some flowers to Mrs Baird because she looked sorta lonely today.

Panel 5: Elly hands him a pair of scissors and tells him not to take too many.

Panel 6: He cuts enough for a smallish bouquet.

Panel 7: He smiles broadly as he presents them to Mrs Baird; she says "For me?? How sweet!"

Panel 8: Neither party is actually fooled by his declaration that Elly, y'know, wanted to get rid of them.

Summary: This, oddly enough, appeared in Mrs Baird's Liography. Mind you, Beth's version has him not asking permission and using giving them to Mrs Baird as a cover for an act of pointless malice but it does appear.
