Snarky Candiru2

Tuesday, 1 May 2012

In today's strip, John thought-bubbles about the need men have to fort up in their workshops. The Lynnsight is all about how incomprehensible and evil the need to flee passive-aggressive child women like Lynn is.

(Strip Number 396, Original Publication Date, 3 May 1983)

Panel 1: We continue on from yesterday's punchline with John telling Mike that if he wants to have the go-kart for Daddy to borrow whenever the mood strikes him, he'll have to help Daddy build it.

Panel 2: He then says that it's about time that he knew what a workshop is for.

Panel 3: He, after all, will probably one day have one of his own. (He will: This one!!)

Panel 4: John smiles as he thought-bubbles that aside from the bathroom, it's the only refuge a family man has.

Summary: In strip terms, it's a refuge from a wife he won't allow himself to understand because doing so would mean that he'd be asked to change his mind and thus expose himself to the catastrophic humiliation of admitting that he is wrong. Since he's a dumb, mean kid, he thinks that doing so will mean that he'll be just some pathetic zero that people laugh at foreeeeeeeeeever. In the notes, workshops are an evil that men disappear into instead of absorbing the passive-aggressive brayings of dimwit women who hold grudges against school-yard bullcrap.
