Snarky Candiru2

Sunday, 29 April 2012

In today's strip, Lynn nags her children about borrowing things and never putting them back where they found them.

(Strip Number 7135, Original Publication Date, 1 May 1983)

Panel 1: Panicky Idiot Elly rifles through Mike's homework looking for something.

Panel 2: She thought-bubbles a curse as she hunts for whatever it is in the drawer she keeps her kitchen utensils in.

Panel 3: She then angrily points to a hook on the wall and asks who took her kitchen scissors. They belong on the hook she's pointing at but every time SHE needs them, they're gone.

Panel 4: John tells Gorey-Faced Elly that he never took them and Mike dunno where they are.

Panel 5: Lizzie sets up the whining punchline by saying that they prob'ly just disappeared.

Panel 6: Mike shields Lizzie from Elly's wrath and says that nothing can disappear, can it?

Panel 7: We have a tight close-up of Elly saying no, nothing can disappear.

Panel 8: Unless that something is the scissors, the scotch tape, the stapler, pencils, bath plug, pliers, socks, corkscrew, the egg timer, her thimble, the screwdriver, my sympathy for a whiny imbecile who thinks that her family do stupid things not because they're imbeciles who lose things because they're stupid but because they hate her and love the idea of her being in pain....

Summary: The Lynnsight is bound to inspire a lot of huffy whining from the anthropoid ranks of Kool-Aid Nation. That's because it's about how her children made her life hard by losing things on her because children are evil and love CHAOS!!!!! and haaaaaaaaaaaate to see their poor mothers happy. The idea that her family does stupid things because they're stupid and not because they're evil masterminds that want to thwart her is not one that can appeal to someone with her levels of narcissism, pessimism and lack of insight.
