Snarky Candiru2

Sunday, 8 April 2012

In today's strip, Mike takes a lot of convincing that the Sun doesn't dance on Easter Sunday. This is accompanied in the book by a reminder that Lynn is also childlike and tends to hold on to her preconceptions.

(Strip Number 6104, Original Publication Date, 3 April 1983)

Panel 1: We find Mike and Lizzie in their jammies looking out the picture window. He tells her to wait for something or other.

Panel 2: As the Sun rises, he says "There it is!!"

Panel 3: Elly asks them what they're both doing.

Panel 4: He explains that someone told him that if you see the Sun rise on Easter Sunday, it will dance in the sky.

Panel 5: He then asks howcome it don't dance.

Panel 6: Elly tells him that she thinks he was told an old folk tale.

Panel 7: Y'see, there are so many stories about special holidays, it's hard to tell what's true and what isn't.

Panel 8: He walks off and says "So the Sun doesn't dance on Easter Sunday?"; she says that she doesn't think so.

Panel 9: Lizzie consoles him by telling him that at least the Easter Bunny he no longer believes in is real.

Summary: This is a harmless enough little slice-of-life thing we can all relate to. So as the attached notes which explain why Merv thought that she and Alan would never catch wise. First off, he never thought that they'd get up that early and second, Vancouver is a fairly rainy city.
