Snarky Candiru2

Tuesday, 20 March 2012

In today's strip, we find Lynn continuing to shoot where the ducks are by making a point that every woman can agree on at one level or another. Granted, she ignores the fact (or doesn't realize) that the women John leers at have the same worry she does but she is aware of the problem.

(Strip Number 4316, Original Publication Date, 22 March 1983)

Panel 1: We find Elly in the changing room at Philpotts thought-bubbling about the unfairness of how there's not one swimsuit on the market that she could wear.

Panel 2: As she looks at the suits for sale, she thought-bubbles about how they're either frontless, sideless, backless or hipless.

Panel 3: She then tells Annie that there's a conspiracy afoot.

Panel 4: Someone, you see, is trying to keep every woman over thirty off the beach.

Summary: Since this is a rather common anxiety, it's not a surprise that she got so many letters that agree with her. Granted, she has an extreme case of shyness that might actually be full-blown dysmorphia and might not realize (or care or believe) that women under thirty have similar suspicions but she is hitting a target that no one can miss.
