Snarky Candiru2

In today's strip, Elly lets herself feel guilty about doing what she wants to do. Again.

(Strip Number 341, Original Publication Date, 17 November 1982)

Panel 1: As she drives to the Valley Voice, Elly thought-bubbles "Why do I have to feel guilty for leaving Elizabeth?"

Panel 2: She then reminds herself thousands of mothers leave their children in daycare every day.

Panel 3: She then smiles and thinks in Lynnglish by thought-bubbling "Daycare is a fact; it's a way of life."

Panel 4: She goes back to her standard bug-eyed frown and thought-bubbles that guilt doesn't respond to logic.

Summary: What it does respond to is the little voice in Elly's head that wants to believe the worst of herself. It's a shame that the children have to pay and pay and pay for the fact that their mother has a bad opinion of herself but it's a fact. It's a way of life.
