Snarky Candiru2

Friday, 4 November 2011

Mike's very real need to not to want to waste his childhood away doing chores leads him to say something silly to a falling leaf. Given his creator's slavish devotion to an idol, it also leads him to act like Evil Linus Van Pelt.

(Strip Number 334, Original Publication Date, 5 November 1982)

Panel 1: Now that the leaves have been raked up, a beaming John says "Well, Mike, that's it; we did it!"

Panel 2: As we look at their leaf-free lawn, John reminds us that they've raked up the leaves and the place looks great.

Panel 3: Just then, a leaf falls to the ground right in front of Mike.

Panel 4: Mike points at the tree it came from and tells it to get back up there.

Summary: This is not only because Lynn likes to think that she's doing a tribute to Peanuts, it's also because Mike expects that he can't go out and play as long as there are leaves to rake up. That's because he's seven and because he lives with anal-retentive jerks.
