Snarky Candiru2

Saturday, 17 September 2011

We end the week by launching into the arc in which Annie gives birth to Richard; since she's what the British call house-proud, she's cleaning the floors before she goes to the hospital because she's got plenty of time despite her husband's need to have her there after the first contraction.

(Strip Number 4225, Original Publication Date, 18 September 1982)

Panel 1: We start the arc with Elly at her typewriter; since Mike is an incredibly average seven year old, he tells her that someone wants her on the phone by yelling as if she's across Lake Erie.

Panel 2: She starts off by asking Steve how he is before telling John that Annie is in labor.

Panel 3: She then asks Steve if he's taken her to the hospital yet; he says that they haven't gone yet.

Panel 4: We then switch to Anne on her hands and knees scrubbing the floor and Steve telling Elly than she wants to wash the floor first.

Summary: While I appreciate her work ethic, her priorities leave something to be desired; she does, after all, have to indulge Canadian Rob Petrie's ignorance and overconcern. That being said, next week's Coffee Talk will be all about how even when they're in labor, ladies are expected to do a full load of housework or some such load of oatmeal.
