Snarky Candiru2

Monday, 21 February 2011

Remember yesterday when we asked what kind of creep got his jollies tormenting people? We're going to ask it again because we start the week with Mike deliberately doing what Elly thinks John did a few weeks ago: call her fat.

(Strip Number 231, Original Publication Date, 22 February 1982)

Panel 1: We find ourselves in the Pattersons' kitchen watching Elly, who's got her eyes narrowed in rage as she yells "All right, Michael; hand over all those magnetic letters" at a pair of oven mitts; the reason she's doing so is that he's got the words "Mom is fat" spelled out on the fridge door, a crude drawing of a fat lady stuck next to it and a nasty smile on his face.

Summary: The reason he's doing this is that he's sort of a little shit; he knows that his mother thinks that she's fat as a pumpkin, knows it bothers her and, since he's a child and has an exaggeratedly high standard of physical perfection, honestly does seem to see her as being morbidly obese.
