Snarky Candiru2

Thursday, 30 December 2010

In case you've missed it, Lynn and her staff were trying to get the Syndicate to reshuffle the strips so as to make sure that the New Year's Eve strip ran on New Year's Eve; they didn't quite get to do so in time and thus had notes that didn't match the strips in question. This is why we spent all of yesterday wondering what a conversation with Ted had to do with Aaron resenting behind left behind and half of today wondering why the New Year's Eve broadcast had a Lynnsight about Ted.

In the official strip, John more or less outs himself as not much caring for Elly's need to reform him.

(Strip Number 4116, Original Publication Date, 30 December 1981)

Panel 1: We find John and Ted at a tavern; as they find a table, Ted says "So, another year has gone by."

Panel 2: As they get seated, Ted then asks John if he's going to make any rash New Year's resolutions.

Panel 3: As the waitress brings their beer over, John says that he doesn't have to.

Panel 4: That's because his wife does makes them for him.

Summary: The interesting thing is that John never quite gets that, even though he's comfortable with himself as he is, Elly can see a lot of room for improvement. He could, for instance, not dress like a slob and make people think that she doesn't care enough to make him look good.

Mystery Solved: The "Missing" Daily Strips From the Week of 2/1/1982

As dreadedcandiru2 has pointed out, the search catalog at the official site shows "missing strip" placeholders for the dailies associated with the dates February 1 through February 6, 1982. I was curious to see if I could find the strips via microfilm, so I checked the reel from the Albany Times Union for the dates in question. And guess what?

Before I tell you, I want to make sure you're sitting down. I know most of you are, since you're reading this on computers, but in case anyone's checking Foobiverse on a mobile device while standing or moving about, please take a moment to sit down. Collapse )
