Snarky Candiru2

Thursday, 28 October 2010

In today's strip, Farley is frightened out what's left of his mind by a jack-o-lantern. Fun stuff, eh, kids?

(Strip Number 188, Original Publication Date, 29 October 1981)

Panel 1: We start off with Farley, the living dust mop SNIFF-WHUFF-SNUFF-SNIFFFing underneath a chair next to a table. On said table is a jack-o-lantern.

Panel 2: He then SNIFF-SNERF-SNUFFFs the seat of the chair.

Panel 3: He starts to SNIFF-SNIFF-SNUFF the jack-o-lantern....

Panel 4: ...only to YIPE in horror because of how hideous it is.

Summary: The problem, of course, is that a real dog isn't going to react to a jack-o-lantern remotely like that, no matter what Lynn's notes might say. The thing is that I visualize a talking Great Dane with a speech impediment showing up the Johnston compound and yelling "RITCH!! ROU ROLE RY RIT!!"

ETA: Lynn's notes say that I'm right to (Scooby) Doo so.
